Multiple methods of merging cells
When we use the WPS Spreadsheet, we often need to merge and combine multiple cells.
Merge and Center in WPS spreadsheet offers multiple merging methods. We will explain in detail how to use this function.
Merge and Center
Select the cell area to be merged, click Home and find the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and select Merge and Center or press keyboard shortcut Ctrl+M.In this way, the selected cells can be merged into one cell anddisplayed in the center.
Merge Cells
Select the cells to be merged, click on the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and select Merge Cells. In this way, the contents in the area of the selected cells can be merged into one cell, but the merged cell is not displayed in the center.
Merge Contents
Take this table as an example, if we want to merge the contents from cell A2 to A6, then select cells A2 through A6. Click on the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and select Merge Content. In this way, the selected cells can be merged into one cell, and all the data can be retained.
Merge Same Cells
In Column B: Grade, we can see that there are cells with the same data content in the Class column. Select the cell areas, click the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and selectMerge Same Cells. In this way, adjacent cells with the same data content can be automatically merged into one large cell, and only merged data can be retained.
Merge Across
In this example, we want to merge attendance of athletes by row. Select the area, click the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and select Merge Across. In this way, the selected cell areas can be merged by row according to Merge Across.
Center Across
Click the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and select Center Across. The data will be shown in the center of the merged cell. But the difference is that Center Across does not merge cells and center them. Instead, the display is centered across columns while preserving the cells.
How can we unmerge cells?
In this spreadsheet, select the cells to be unmerged, click the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and then select Unmerge Cells. If we want to fill the same content in every split cell, Select the merged cells, click the drop-down menu of Merge and Center, and select Unmerge and Fill.
